Prayer Works!

I’m a firm believer that prayer works! I can admit that years ago I didn’t know what the protocol was regarding prayer or how to talk to God. I was new to church and began going to bible study. One night we were given homework and I can honestly say, I had no idea what I was looking at nor did I understand the bible. All I ever known was the KJV (King James Version). For me, as a new believer, I couldn’t understand the text. So, this is what I did! I dropped to my knees and began to honestly pray to God. I said, I want to learn your word but I don’t understand it. If this is what you want for me then I need you to help me understand. Yes, I was crying like a baby. As I finished praying I stood up and looked towards my television. Low and behold, the story about Nicodemus was on Trinity Broadcast Network, not to mention this was our homework assignment. God not only heard my cry….He answered my prayer. I was able to understand the lesson by watching the show on tv. I also purchased a NIV (New International Version) Study Application bible.

We all have to start somewhere! Don’t let your insecurities keep you from praying for yourself and others. God is waiting to hear from you!

Fruit Check!

Lately I’ve been a little on edge, especially when it comes to being patient. Funny how we often think of ourselves as the most patient person on earth UNTIL that moment when it seems like it’s taking forever for things to happen.

For the past two weeks, maybe even longer, I’ve repeatedly had to do what I now call the Fruit Check! The Fruit Check, is where I analyze the situations I’m currently facing and my reaction to those situations. If you’re still lost or confused about the word Fruit, I’m referring to the Fruit of the Spirit, found in the bible, in Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I found myself trying to put my two cents in the mix to speed things up. My thoughts were it just shouldn’t take this long to do anything. Not only did I find out how impatient I was, I found out that I wasn’t trusting God to what He said which also meant in His timing.

What I’m trying to say is by being impatient and trying to help God do His job, I was not only in error but  my impatience showed lack of faith which caused a delay in my breakthrough. I repented and decided to totally surrender to God so His plan and purpose could unfold in my life.

You might be dealing with something or waiting on God to do a turnaround in your life. I would like to encourage you to keep the faith and continue to trust God to bring you through.

How it all began!

Last night while at a prayer meeting I received a very great and awe inspiring word from the Lord to start a blog to share my testimonies and encourage women of all ages to press in and hold on. I pondered throughout the night and much of the day to find a fitting name for the blog and suddenly beauty4queens was birthed. Check in often to see what’s new. Take care and be blessed in the Lord!
